Burn Out, Blob Out

Up until now, we have focused on the debilitating psychological impact of physician burnout. Anxiety, depression, errors in medical judgment and even suicide have been covered in previous posts.

BUT.  Check this out. What you will learn is that physical manifestations, including significant weight gain, can also go along for the burnout ride.  

Bottom Line. No doubt about it. The effects of burnout can be devastating and diverse. “Healthy Living” often gets left by the wayside, by physician and lay person alike, when they are overwhelmed by their jobs. AND. As this piece clearly points out, workplace “Wellness Programs” do little or nothing to counter these effects.
