Doctors Dealing With Mass Shooting

Check this out. What you will see is a little piece noting that seven major U.S. medical organizations have issued statements decrying mass shootings and making recommendations for how their frequency and impact can be significantly reduced. In addition to such frequently heard, but still important, suggestions for increased background checks, the organizations make a special point of wanting to ensure that no legislation is passed, as has been done previously, that precludes physicians from discussing firearms with their patients.

Given the realization that such recommendations are not going to immediately eliminate the horror of mass shootings, medical organizations are also working to implement guidelines recently issued by HHS on how hospitals should plan for dealing with their aftermath.

Bottom Line. So sad! I remain unclear as to why our “leaders” continue to try to figure out how to deal with this problem.  Other countries, all other countries, are doing far better jobs here than we are. Let’s “Borrow with pride” from the lessons they can teach us!
